That 90’s Show – James Iha

That 90’s Show, scored by James Iha, is now streaming on Netflix!  The series centers on Leia Forman (Callie Haverda), the teenage daughter of Eric Forman (Topher Grace) and Donna Pinciotti (Laura Prepon), forming bonds with other teenagers as she spends the summer of 1995 with her grandparents, Red (Kurtwood Smith) and Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp) in Point Place, Wisconsin, 15 years after the events of That ’70s Show.

Co-Creator Gregg Mettler told Variety that the pressure was high to come up with something as iconic as “That ‘70s Show” theme, “In the Street”, originally from Big Star’s iconic #1 Record, recorded by Cheap Trick and renamed “That 70’s Song”. Metter arranged a version of the song with a 90s sound, and handed it over to James Iha and recorded it with Brett Anderson – the former lead singer for The Donnas.

“So much of what made That ’70s Show such a bingeable show is gleefully intact here: the humor, the heart, and, perhaps especially, the nostalgic, era-specific plots. But what really solidifies That ’90s Show as good television is its cast of newcomers, who quickly earn their spots on that legendary—and, by now, moth-eaten—basement couch.” – Slant Magazine
That ’90s Show really does manage to pay tribute to its predecessor, give us a fun snapshot of a beloved decade, and still present the audience with endearing characters whose own stories are just as interesting and funny as their previous generation’s.” – Collider
