We would like to offer our warmest congratulations to EMP client and founding member of The Go-Go’s, Charlotte Caffey, on the band’s well deserved Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction this past weekend! We would also like to extend our congratulations to the fabulous Carole King, and all of the other inductees in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2021.
During her fantastic introduction speech at Sunday’s ceremony, which included a full costume change into the iconic Beauty and the Beat towel and face mask, Drew Barrymore gushed that “Beauty and the Beat’ blew the doors of my life off, It opened me up to a whole new dimension. I dropped the needle and I felt instantly connected to the punk pulse of this record. It sounded like pure possibility. It rattled up my walls and straight through to my heart. I spent hours staring at that cover and the back side, all of them in the bathtub. The coolest girls in the world taking a spa day in cool-girl heaven.”
Bassist Kathy Valentine went on to state that “By recognizing our achievement, the Rock Hall celebrates possibility, the kind of possibility that creates hopeful dreamers. By honoring our historical contribution, the doors to this establishment have opened wider and the Go-Go’s will be advocating for the inclusion of more women.”
The moment The Go-Go’s began playing their unforgettable hits Vacation, Our Lips Are Sealed and We Got The Beat, there was not a person in attendance who wasn’t dancing, singing and celebrating this long overdue recognition along with the band.
