Paris Hurley composed the score for Kristen Stewart’s directorial debut The Chronology of Water, an adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch’s acclaimed memoir. The film, which had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, has received nearly universal critical acclaim. It traces one woman’s raw and deeply personal journey of survival, identity, and self-discovery. Hurley combines her classical training with the raw post-punk power of her artist persona OBJECT AS SUBJECT to create a complex and moving blend of voice, electronics, rock ensemble, and modern classical elements that intimately mesh with the inner life of the film’s protaganist. The Chronology of Water will be released in North America this December in an awards-qualifying run, followed by a wider release in early 2026.
