Joshua Moshier scored Special, which premiered on Netflix this week. This new sitcom is a semi-autobiographical comedy centering around Ryan O’Connell’s life as a gay, aspiring writer with cerebral palsy. Each episode shares his sexual timidity and struggle to be taken seriously as a writer, as he explains away his cerebral palsy symptoms to his co-workers and romantic interests as having come from a recent car accident. Variety says: “Special tackles timeless issues with equal parts compassion and wit.”
Ryan O’Connell executive produces the comedy alongside Jim Parsons.
