Heel (formerly known as Good Boy), directed by Oscar-nominated Jan Komasa and featuring a hauntingly evocative score by Abel Korzeniowski, will be released theatrically by Magnolia Pictures on March 6. The film made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Komasa’s first English-language feature follows Tommy, a 19-year-old criminal abducted by a seemingly ordinary married couple. Convinced they can rehabilitate him, the couple embarks on a twisted psychological experiment that spirals into dangerous territory as the lines between control, morality, and obsession blur. Stephen Graham, Andrea Riseborough, Anson Boon and Austin Hayes deliver great performances in this oddly powerful feature.
Korzeniowski’s score balances raw suspense with moments of humor and emotional depth that make the film’s most unsettling moments resonate long after the credits roll.
