Jen Ross

Music supervisor Jen Ross has left her stamp on some of the highest-profile music driven television series to air, including Peacock’s record shattering original series Bel-Air, the hit NBC musical comedy series Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, the second season of Netflix’s coming of age smash-hit, Ginny & Georgia, National Geographic’s biopic drama about the Queen Of Soul Genius: Aretha, the Netflix original animated music series We The People, produced by Barack and Michelle Obama, the music-centric Fox hit Empire about the royal world of hip-hop, the STARZ drama series, Power, the Netflix / Annapurna musical TV series, Soundtrack, as well as NBC’s much talked about musical drama Smash.

Up next for Jen is the FX comedy series English Teacher, created by and starring Brain Jordan Alvarez.  Touted by TIME magazine as “The Year’s Best New Sitcom”, the show follows a high school teacher who is trying to balance the competing demands of the students and their parents in a world where the rules seem to change every day.

Ross has helped support the art of storytelling by sculpting the sound on such series as the NBC procedural drama The Irrational, ABC / Marvel’s period series that combined post-war mood and comic book adventure into one stylish package Agent Carter, as well as the successful FBI thriller series Quantico (starring Priyanka Chopra).  Additionally, she supervised the first two seasons of Star for Lee Daniels (starring Queen Latifah and Benjamin Bratt) and Kevin Probably Saves the World (starring Jason Ritter). Her impressive CV also includes the Emmy-winning Showtime anthology Master of Horror (where she worked with veteran genre directors like John Carpenter and John Landis), and season 1 of the Netflix original series Grace and Frankie (starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Martin Sheen)

Her big screen work includes the YA musical romance Purple Hearts, starring Sofia Carson & Nicholas Galitzine. Featuring original songs by Justin Tranter. Catherine Hardwicke’s romance Miss You Already, starring Drew Barrymore & Toni Collette, the Disney family films Sky High and Ice Princess, the Adam Carolla comedy The Hammer, the Wayans Brothers film White Chicks, and Transylvania, and Isabell Dances in the Spotlight.  

A Los Angeles native who grew up around the entertainment industry, Jen soaked up the power of music and movies during her early years (particularly in John Hughes’ influential, soundtrack-fueled films). She started out in the music industry on the record label side, working with Grammy-winning artists like Rufus Wainwright and Nelly Furtado. Working within the developmental world of A&R, she became drawn towards the magic alchemy of mixing music into movies & television, thus charting a path to where she is today.

“The power of music is undeniable,” Ross says. “To be able to play with the dynamics of something that has no boundaries is a blessing. Working with various genres, as well as different tonal landscapes, is almost like getting to travel. Where each show and scene can become an enriching and moving experience.”
