Music Editor/Supervisor
Steve Griffen is a 25+ year veteran of the L.A. music scene who has worked in multiple aspects of the industry, and become one of the rare music supervisors that can also handle a full range music editorial and production duties. Steve studied composition and music performance at Cal State Northridge while working as both an engineer and consultant during the dawn of the digital recording revolution.
After college, Steve worked for Digidesign on the development and implementation of ProTools software, then returned to L.A. to pursue music editorial. He went on to function as a staff writer/producer for LA/NY music, creating advertising jingles. Steve then honed his engineering and production skills in the record industry, were he had the opportunity to work with producers Glen Ballard, Mark Endert and Stan Lynch. In recent years, Steve has returned to the film and television world to function as a music editor, music supervisor and music producer. He has produced and engineered both score and main titles for television, as well as vocal content for songs performed by David Spade, Debra Messing, Rebel Wilson, and Sean Combs. He also co-wrote, performed, produced and recorded production songs for Hot Tub Time Machine 2 with Craig Robinson. Steve is equally comfortable with composer-assist or temp score music editorial. His ability to combine music production and engineering skills with his knowledge of music licensing and publishing, as well as years of experience in the edit room and on the mix stage, make him a well-rounded asset to any production, and especially ones that involve music performance.
